How Much Does The iPhone 17 Cost In Bitcoin & Ether?

The newly announced iPhone 17 costs 0.0072 in BTC and 0.1866 in ETH. Its base price is the same as the previous four iterations, $799. However, unlike the price of iPhones, the price of cryptocurrencies has been very volatile over the past decade.

The cost of an iPhone 17 in BTC is 0.0072, -48.6% lower than that of an iPhone 16 in BTC last year (0.0140). While the price of the iPhone 17 has been maintained at $799, the price of BTC has risen significantly over the past year. It was $57,049 on the day of the iPhone 16 launch, and is now at $111,033 on the iPhone 17’s launch date, an increase of 94.6%. 

Meanwhile, Apple’s latest addition, the iPhone Air, priced at $999, can be bought for just 0.0090 BTC. The higher-end iPhone 17 Pro, priced at $1,099, costs about 0.0099 BTC, while the flagship iPhone 17 Pro Max, priced at $1,199, comes to around 0.0108 BTC.

The iPhone 17 Costs 0.1866 ETH in 2025, -44.9% lower than the iPhone 16

The cost of an iPhone 17 in ETH is 0.1866, -44.9% lower than that of an iPhone 16 in ETH last year (0.3386). Similar to BTC, ETH has seen a significant increase in price of 84.0%. The price of ETH on iPhone 16’s launch day was $2,359.57, and it has since increased to $4,282.40 on iPhone 17’s launch.

The iPhone Air, priced at $999, can be bought for just 0.2333 ETH. The higher-end iPhone 17 Pro at $1,099 costs about 0.2567 ETH, while the flagship iPhone 17 Pro Max at $1,199 comes to around 0.2800 ETH.

The Cost of an iPhone in Bitcoin and Ethereum Over the Years

As the price of BTC and ETH increases over the years, the amount required to purchase an iPhone decreases, thanks to increased purchasing power. 

An iPhone 4S, which retailed at $649, is equivalent to 162.25 BTC when it was first released in 2011, with BTC trading at around $4. Fast forward to 2025, the new iPhone 17 retails 23% higher at $799, which equates to 0.0071 BTC – reflecting a 99.9% drop in the amount of Bitcoin required to purchase an iPhone.

Similarly, the amount of ETH needed to buy an iPhone has plunged 99.9%, from 876.41 ETH for a $649 iPhone S in 2015 to just 0.18 ETH for a $799 iPhone 17 in 2025.
